IDF World Dairy Summit 2011

The IDF World Dairy Summit, held in Parma 15th to 19th October 2011, presented data from the study conducted by the Department of Animal Science, University of Milan, on the HYST processing of bran and straw.

The Summit, organised by the International Dairy Federation (IDF) and under the auspices of the FAO, welcomed more than 1500 guests and 160 speakers from around the world. Represented in 57 countries, IDF is today responsible for 85% of world milk production.

In the context of Sustainable Animal Nutrition, test results on HYST products were presented by Prof. Luca Malagutti (University of Milan) and Dr. Francesca Luciani (Istituto Superiore di Sanità – leading technical and scientific public body of the Italian National Health Service). Among the chairmen of the session was Professor Harinder Makkar, Animal Nutrition Officer at the FAO (Animal Production and Health Division), who has for some time been following with a keen interest the development of studies relating to HYST technology, with particular attention to its use for the Scienza per Amore humanitarian project.
